Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is without a doubt one of the best reads of the summer. I couldn’t put this one down!
Hillenbrand recounts the TRUE story of Louie Zamperini–I capitalize TRUE because it is almost beyond belief. Zamperini was a U.S. Olympic runner who hung up his shoes to enter the military during WWII. During a routine search mission over the Pacific, Louie’s plane crashed into the ocean, and what happened to him over the next three years of his life (if you could call it that) will keep you turning the pages.
I found this book to be one of inspiration, endurance and resilience . . . beyond what any human should have to bear. It is also a wondrous tale of God’s redemptive love.
