Several weeks ago, my good friend Gene Appel spoke at a breakfast Stadia hosted at the North American Christian Convention.  He talked about the effectiveness of the model that Stadia, together with Compassion International, is using to build churches and care for children.  He candidly shared that for a long time his focus was more on the internal.  Then, on a trip to Zambia, Africa, and after sitting on a step speaking with a young mother who was HIV+, how his focus changed.  That conversation wrecked him.  He challenged the audience to be wrecked by poverty and to “never stop letting God wreck you about the needs around the world.”

I am grateful for the time he shared with us…I am grateful for his partnership…I am grateful that he was wrecked.
