Our national debt (and I use the word “our” intentionally) recently hit the $10.2 trillion mark. The number is so big that the National Debt Clock near New York’s Times Square had to elliminate its dollar sign to make room for an extra digit. Our national debt is now approaching the size of the entire U.S. economy!
I don’t even know what to say about this . . . Biblically, the borrower is a slave to the lender. Are we a nation of slaves? Whatever happened to the “land of the free?” We CANNOT be free if we are in debt.
One group taxes and spends, while the other borrows and spends, while the rest of us have no such options.
Time for Jubilee?!?
Can you even imagine?
So…., this is why our allegiance is not to a nation but to Jesus. For he paid our debt in full. Even if in bondage from a worldly perspective, as Christ-followers, are we still not free? Are our brothers in North Vietnam and China and other countries where they are being persecuted or killed more free or less free than we?
Even the election should be a vote of allegiance to Christ – not a party or idealogy. Read this post and it will make you ponder modernity and it’s lure:

When theology gets mixed with worldly thought this is what happens. The church should follow another pledge of allegiance in my humble opinion:
“I pledge allegiance to my Lord and His ways, all of my living days. In bondage or in freedom, I will not forget the price He paid. One people under God who is invincible and will return as King of Kings and Lord or Lords to provide liberty and justice for All!”
So…, until then – whistle the tune “Don’t worry – be Happy!” :-)
When you see DEATH as the end and not the beginning of eternity with your CREATOR……you can create all sorts of definitions of all kinds of things (human things). I think when you see LIFE as GOD sees it….knowing that each of your earthly days is a gift from the ONE who created you….you regard LIFE as a miracle…an opportunity for you to form a perfect relationship with JESUS, who was sent by GOD to rescue you. This act of GOD is my solace, my anchor, my everything……. When GOD sent Jesus, I don’t think HE breathed life into HIM only after HE had been on earth for several days. HE BREATHED LIFE INTO US THROUGH CHRIST FROM THE BEGINNING. It is not up to me to interpret the middle…I only see the beginning and then an eternity with God who created me. Kind of out there, but to me, there is no other way…..the ALPHA and the OMEGA….
